Bury Bach Choir Repertoire
When Percy Hallam founded the choir in 1932, his ambition was to "perform Bach's great choral masterpieces", and the choir took its name from the composer. In those early years, the music of Johann Sebastian Bach prevailed, but the choir soon began to explore the works of other composers.
Over the years, performances have included music by Britten, Brahms, Elgar, Faure, Handel, Haydn, Mozart, Vaughan Williams, and many others, including some less well known twentieth-century composers.
In recent years, we have included at least one work by Bach in each of our Season's programmes.
The following record of performances of major works over the past forty-eight years demonstrates a rich and varied repertoire.
