What a way to celebrate the Christmas season! Following its sell-out Handel concert at St Mary's earlier this year, the choir returns with Messiah the Saturday before Christmas. Come and enjoy again the energy and variety of Handel's best known work. Or if you've never heard Messiah before, prepare to be enthralled by the most famous oratorio in the English language. Featuring the "Hallelujah Chorus" and many other famous numbers, Messiah is in turn powerful, then colourful and light, then stirring and majestic, as soloists and chorus tell each stage of the story with unsurpassed clarity and emotion.
This is musical story-telling of the very highest quality, full of catchy tunes and a remarkable variety of pace that is guaranteed to keep the audience on its toes. What is more, in this authentic performance in the wonderful acoustics of St Mary's Church, the orchestra will be playing fine baroque instruments, including baroque trumpets with no keys and no valves. Don't miss it.
Early booking is recommended. Booking opens 15th. September 2008
