James Recknell -

Rehearsal Accompanist

James Recknell

James is our rehearsal accompanist. He read music at Cambridge University where he achieved an MA, and became a Fellow of the Royal College of Organists in 1986.


He moved from London to Suffolk in 1979, was Music Director for Bury St Edmunds Operatic and Dramatic Society during the eighties, Conductor of the Thetford Singers from 1979 until 1986, and more recently was Music Director of St Edmundsbury Male Voice Choir for eight years.


James was Head of Music at Culford School for over thirty years, where in addition to being responsible for the school's ensembles and choirs, he ran the Culford Choral Society for over twenty-five years.
