Music that heals the soul
Experiencing Antonín Dvořák’s Stabat Mater is a profound journey from deep sorrow to radiant joy.
Written after the heartbreaking loss of his own children, Dvořák poured his raw, personal grief into this monumental choral masterpiece. The music of this sacred oratorio for soloists, choir and orchestra beautifully captures the universal human experience of love, loss, and ultimate resilience, encompassing passion, comfort and breathtaking beauty, making it one of the most moving and emotionally charged works in the classical repertoire.
The London premiere of Stabat Mater in 1883 was such a huge success that the following year the composer himself was invited to conduct a performance in the Royal Albert Hall with a large orchestra and a chorus of more than 800 voices.
This performance brings together our choir’s powerful voice under the direction of Benedict Collins Rice with the world-class artistry of the famously talented London Mozart Players and the virtuosity of our four wonderful soloists. Together, we will bring Dvořák’s lush orchestration, soaring melodies and dramatic choruses to life in The Apex’s stunningly vibrant acoustic space for an evening of high-calibre music-making that will stir your soul and captivate your heart.
You must come.
