Repertoire

When Percy Hallam founded the Choir in 1932, his ambition was "to perform Bach's great choral masterpieces", and the choir took its name from the composer.  In those early years, the music of Johann Sebastian Bach prevailed, but the choir soon began to explore the works of other composers.

Over the years, performances have included music by Brahms, Britten, Elgar, Fauré, Handel, Haydn, Mozart, Vaughan Williams, and many others, including some less well known twentieth-century composers.

The following record of our performances of major works over the years demonstrates a rich and varied repertoire.
