How to Join the Choir
We normally have some vacancies in all voices. Come and join us! We have a great track record and an ambition to be one of the best choirs in East Anglia.
We rehearse on Wednesday evenings for two hours from 7:30 pm at the Lower Hall, King Edward VI School, Spring Lane, Bury St Edmunds, IP33 3BH, between September and June. On average we have ten rehearsals for each concert.
If you think you'd like to sing with the Choir, you are very welcome to contact Julia, our New Members' Secretary, who can arrange for you to come to the first rehearsal of our next major concert, using the form on this page.
After two or three rehearsals you will then be asked to meet with our conductor for a voice check before being invited to become a member of the choir.
The annual subscription (2026/27 musical season) is £192, and we also pay for our own music (sometimes to buy, sometimes to hire). We welcome singers of all ages and offer reduced subscriptions for members under the age of 30.
Please note we have now closed recruitment of new singers for Bach B minor Mass and A Christmas Celebration. The next opportunity to join the choir will be for our Dvořák Stabat Mater concert on 20 March 2027. Rehearsals for this concert start early January. The form for contacting Julia will appear on this page on 1 November 2026. Thank you.

How to find us
When finding us for the first time, please note that there are two entrances to King Edward VI School (Grove Road and Spring Lane), and we use the entrance off Spring Lane. To get there, go north (downhill) on Parkway from the Risbygate/Parkway roundabout, then turn left into Springfield Road (just after the fire station). Veer slightly right into Spring Lane at the first junction, then follow Spring Lane round a right-angle bend to the left. The school entrance is on your right. You can park in the first car park on your right, then find us through the main door, which is up beyond the small car park you’ve just passed on your left.
