Presidents

Graeme Danby and

Valerie Reid

Co-Presidents

In April 2014 the Bury Bach Choir announced that it had appointed two very distinguished musicians to the position of Co-Presidents. Valerie Reid, mezzo-soprano, and Graeme Danby, bass, are regular soloists with the Bury Bach Choir and have been very supportive of the choir for many years.

Valerie Reid has sung with English National Opera, Scottish Opera, Music Theatre Wales, and at the Covent Garden Festival and Linbury Theatre, Covent Garden, in addition to a wide variety of concert appearances throughout this country and abroad. She has sung with the Bury Bach Choir in major works including Elgar’s Dream of Gerontius, Mozart’s Requiem and Bach’s St John Passion.

Graeme Danby is an internationally-recognised bass who has performed with many of the major opera houses such as the Royal Opera, English National Opera, Opera North, Scottish Opera, de Vlaamse Opera and Teatro alla Scala, Milan. He is a regular soloist with the Bury Bach Choir, together with Valerie Reid, to whom he is married.

Both Valerie and Graeme have extensive teaching commitments in addition to their professional engagements.

In their role as Co-Presidents of our choir, Valerie and Graeme are wonderfully supportive and encouraging. We are so grateful too for their warm generosity in helping us with fund raising, with voice training, and with arranging for top class soloists to sing with us. They enrich the life of the choir.
